When Dasha was 19 years old, she left rural Slovakia and moved to London with the desire to immerse herself in a different culture, to meet people from around the world, and to see life outside the former communist state. Dasha worked different jobs but dreamed of becoming a children's fashion designer. She started making clothing for the children she was caring for, and when the family she worked for saw her talent, they gave her the opportunity to attend a London fashion and design school. Dasha's launch of By Dasha London proved so popular in London, she saw an opportunity to help the women in her village where she grew up. By working with a childhood friend, Dasha set up manufacturing in Slovakia and employed older women in her village who had limited employment prospects to hand crochet the motifs that are then hand sewn onto the garments. By Dasha London is now sold all over the UK and in many countries outside of the UK.
